Social Media Phenomenon Facebook has unveiled its new logo which is different from its social network.
The aim is to highlight facebook brand which serves a range of Services and Apps including messaging, photo posting, virtual reality and is developing wallets for digital currency.
Accroding to its Chief Marketing Officer Antonio Lucio, the name of Facebook brand in crisp lettering will be stamped on its “family” of offerings including WhatsApp, Messenger, Instagram, Oculus, Workplace, Portal and Calibra.
Lucio stated that “Today we are updating our company branding to be clearer about the products that come from Facebook”.
In addition, Lucio also said, “We are introducing a new company logo further distinguishing the Facebook company from the Facebook app, which will keep its own branding. The new corporate logo is a way to better communicate our ownership structure to the people and businesses who use our services to connect”.
Globally, Facebook is under the scrutiny from regulators over allegations of lack of data privacy of its social media platform users. Some politicians and activists are also seeking a breakup of Silicon Valley firms.
Some 15 years ago Facebook started as a social networking application and has now procured virtual reality gear company as well as an Instagram, an image-based social network.
The Workplace social network is tailored for workplace productivity and Portal Smart Screens have also been launched by Facebook.
Currently, more than a billion users are using its messaging applications WhatsApp and Messenger.
In Various countries, Calibra, Facebook’s digital wallet that will be used with its Cryptocurrency Libra has been suffering criticism from lawmakers and regulators alike.
